Photoshop Challenge 01

Create 5 signature images for use in multiple formats

Create 5 different signature images for use in a PowerPoint or on the Web. Use a range of distinct fonts, colors, and effects which would look great for use in your academic or professional life. See examples to the right, and noticed that I used a version of one of those examples as the new signature image for the class website. >>

You will turn in a total of 2 documents:

  • Document 1: Master signature page of 3 signatures / 2 logos saved in .psd (photoshop) format
  • Document 2: Page of 3 signatures / 2 logos saved in .jpg format

To begin:

  • Begin by opening Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 (64-Bit)
  • Create a new document by selecting File>New
  • When the dialog box appears
    • Go to Preset and select 'U.S. Paper' from the pull-down list
    • Go to Background Contents and select 'Transparent' from the pull-down list
    • Resolution should be set to 72ppi
  • Immediately go File>Save As
  • Name file: signatures_your_name

Master Signature document Formatting & Instructions

  • Each graphic must be on a different layer
  • All layers must be appropriately named (see example graphic #2) - no 'Logo 1, Logo 2, etc. naming
  • Creations with multiple layers (like logos) must be merged down to one layer
  • Font size: From 60px - 108px
  • Font type is your choice, but needs to be easy to read and professional enough to use for school or work
  • Stick with simple colors
  • When finished, turn the separately-saved signature & logo graphics in via eMail. Raise your hand so the Instructor may review your saved .psd (Photoshop) document.
  • All graphics / signatures must be centered
  • Blending effects must be applied to at least two signatures
  • Document must be trimmed
